Servers Dressed As Power Rangers Take Down Man Attacking a Woman

October 17, 2022

OAKLAND, CA—Employees dressed as Super Sentai (Power Rangers) at a new restaurant in the Bay Area sprang into action and became real superheroes after taking down an attacker who was choking a woman.

The incident was documented in a viral series of tweets by a woman who was having dinner at the restaurant.

The attack happened at Noka Ramen in Oakland around 8 p.m. on Friday, October 14.

According to Ploi Pirapoken—the witness who posted the viral tweet—a distressed woman ran into the Thai-owned restaurant seeking help, “and a man came running in after her and puts her in a chokehold.”

That’s when the servers dressed as Power Rangers moved in to de-escalate the situation. The Yellow and Black Rangers told the assailant to leave. The assailant then began throwing punches and kicks at the Power Rangers.

The male suspect also began shouting anti-Asian slurs, which then caused the Yellow Ranger to drag him out of the restaurant by the collar.

The sight of the Yellow Ranger dragging the assailant soon pumped up the customers who began screaming “it’s Morphin time!”

After the assailant was dragged outside, he began “picking up chairs, baby seats, and salt and pepper shakers to throw at the windows.”

The Rangers ended up piling onto the man until police showed up. Any other situation when multiple grown-ups dressed in spandex piling on top of each other would have caused an uproar of indecency, but not that day.

Oakland Police confirmed to local news outlet KGO that they detained the assailant, believing he was undergoing a mental health crisis, and was transported for medical attention.
