76-Yr-Old Asian Woman Dragged 30ft and Robbed

HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CA—An African-American male violently assaulted a 76-year-old Chinese woman in broad daylight in front of a Bank of America on Azusa Ave, across the street from the Puente Malls, also known as “Twin Pines Mall” from Back to the Future.

The robbery took place around 11:15 a.m. on August 14 in Xintiandi Plaza.

An eyewitness told World Journal: “As soon as I turned my head, I saw him [African-American man] running after the old lady and dragged [her] from the sidewalk to the road. Moreover, the old lady’s bag was still straddling her body.”

Ms. Li parked her car in front of Bank of America as her husband withdrew money from the ATM.

The witness, Ms. Li, showed video footage of the elderly woman getting dragged about 30 feet by the African-American assailant.

Ms. Li’s husband quickly ran to help and scare off the assailant along with another Good Samaritan attempting to do the same, however, the African-American suspect seemed unfazed.

The elderly victim later told Ms. Li the assailant took off with some cash, bank cards, and identity cards. The bag was discarded off the side of the road.

Watch Commander Hiraok of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Branch, told World Journal the 76-year-old victim suffered bruises on her upper arm and around her body. She was not taken to the hospital for treatment; although it was offered by responding firefighters.

Hacienda Heights has a large concentration of Asian-Americans and an average home around the area is $1 million. Surrounding school districts have seen skyrocketing academic achievement by the influx of students over the past 20 years. The area is considered safe.
