BROOKLYN, New York—An armed duo robbed, punched, and shot a Chinese food delivery worker in Crown Heights over the weekend, according to police.

The suspects, both identified as African-American males, made off with the worker’s food, smartphone, and $5.

The 36-year-old victim was walking down steps carrying a delivery bag of food at a building on Lefferts Avenue in Brooklyn around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, when two suspects approached him, reports the New York Post.

One of the suspects pulled a gun on the victim and cornered him on the steps. The duo punched the victim in the face and snatched his delivery bag, smartphone, and $5.

The victim then chased after the robbers outside the building, which caused one of the robbers to open fire on him, according to The Post.

The victim was not struck and refused medical attention at the scene.

This horrific robbery comes a week after Chinese food deliveryman Zhiwen Yan, 45, was shot dead in Forest Hills, Queens. Restaurant workers say it may have been caused by a lingering dispute over duck sauce.
