FRESNO, California—Fresno police say a pregnant woman lost her baby after she was involved in a car crash by a driver running from officers. Police say the driver was high on methamphetamine.

The driver was later identified as 22-year-old Jimmy Keonhothy of Fresno.

The crash happened just after 2 pm on Wednesday, August 26 when a police officer spotted a car that matched the description of a car used in a shooting a week earlier, according to Bakersfield Now.

Keonhothy ran a red light after refusing to pull over for police. His car ended up crashing into another car with the pregnant woman inside. The woman who was 6-months pregnant was pinned in after the crash and required firefighters to pull her out.

The unidentified woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The police later said the woman lost her baby.

Authorities also stated they arrested all four people that were inside the vehicle, including Keonhothy. Upon his arrest, the police ascertained signs he was under the influence of methamphetamine.

Apparently, Keonhothy has a criminal history with more than 10 arrests for vehicle theft along with multiple charges of theft and burglary. He was treated at a local hospital and booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of murder, felony DUI, and felony evading. Keonhothy was also driving without a license.

Upon a search of the damaged vehicle, police found a gun along with an unknown amount of illegal drugs. The investigation is ongoing.
